2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD
Although it’s difficult to see through the thick plastic that wraps these trucks, it’s obvious they’ll adopt some of the styling features of their respective little brothers. The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, seen here in Double Cab form, looks like it’ll acquire the smaller truck’s rounded wheel arches and architectural styling features. But as we saw with the Silverado HD teaser of a few weeks ago, it gets multi-element headlamps bisected by a large grille bar, a bolder front end treatment than what’s applied to the new 1500. Taillights for the HD will likely echo the notched units found on other Silverados.
2020 GMC Sierra HD
The GMC Sierra HD will probably look more like its 1500 counterpart than the Silverado HD does. Both Silverado and Sierra were spotted with cobbled-together headlamp units, but the shape of the Sierra HD’s light openings more closely matches that of the smaller Sierra 1500. The grille, upsized and emboldened in the big-truck style, nevertheless features a similar notched-shield shape as the light-duty pickup. Expect asymmetrical wheel openings to more easily distinguish the GMC from its Chevrolet cousins.
Expected for a debut at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD and 2020 GMC Sierra HD will likely go on sale later that year, doing battle with the likewise-new Ram Heavy Duty. Both all-new trucks will bring the fight to Ford’s F-Series Super Duty, which should receive a midcycle facelift by 2020 or 2021.
